A few days ago, Axios posted a story about a family’s effort to make the perfect pumpkin jam.
In this recipe, the family used a pumpkin pie crust recipe, but they made the jam by hand and used a combination of ingredients from other types of jams.
The family used the following ingredients:A batch of fresh pumpkin pie doughThe pumpkin pie fillingThe jam doughMixing spices and baking soda to tasteThe fillingThe whole process, which took less than 30 minutes:1.
Cook the pumpkin pie.
Cut into strips and put in the freezer for 30 minutes.2.
Heat up the oven and bake the pie for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.3.
Remove from the oven.4.
Put the pie in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.5.
Place in the fridge for 5 minutes.6.
To make the jam, put the pumpkin in a food processor or food tube, pulse until smooth, and pour into a measuring cup or bowl.
Fill the container with water and add the sugar, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, and baking powder.
Add the milk.
Fill up the jug with water, pour into the jug, and top up with water.
This will help prevent the jam from separating while it’s fermenting.
Fill it up again and fill the jug up again.
Repeat the process until you have enough water to reach the desired consistency.7.
Remove the jam and refrigerate until ready to use.8.
Make the jam.1.
Heat the oven to 400 degrees F.2, or until the jam is slightly thick.3, or the jam should be completely firm.4, or it will spread if it sits on the counter.5, or you may want to add a bit of liquid if you want a thicker jam.6, or put a bit more water in the jug.7, or add a little more water to the container.8, or pour in a bit to help with the pressure.9, or take it out of the fridge and add some cinnamon and cloves to help add to the flavor.10, or bake it at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes.11, or leave it in the oven for 5-10 minutes, until the edges are slightly browned.12, or if you’re cooking the jam at 400, it will take 5-7 minutes to reach that point.13, or remove the jam after 5-15 mins.14, or transfer the mixture to a bowl or serving dish and cool for at least 30 minutes before using.15, or place the mixture in a container and refrigeration.16, or store it in a sealed container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
